In this chance, we would like to invite Beswan Djarum 2018/2019 to join the selection of Djarum Foundation Delegation for The Harvard World Model United Nations 2020 in Tokyo, Japan.

Invitation to Participate: Djarum Foundation Delegation for The Harvard World Model United Nations Conference (WorldMUN) 2020

Building on Djarum Foundation’s vision to nurture global competitiveness through quality education, under the banner of the Foundation’s International Exposure (IE) program, we hereby invite you to join the Delegation of Djarum Foundation for the Harvard World Model United Nations Conference (WorldMUN) 2020.

If you have the conviction to change the world, and if you are willing to learn, build your network, and contribute to a winning team, this valuable experience will be second to none. Just as Tokyo, Japan will host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, the city will also host the ‘Olympics of Model UN’: an event that will bring together thousands of students from around the globe to engage in days of debates aimed at solving some of the world’s most pressing issues.

If accepted, you will experience an intensive training program, specifically designed to help you master all things MUN, starting from the most basic of skills. For beginners and seasoned experts alike, the training program will be a valuable development process that you cannot find anywhere else. At the end of the conference, you will emerge as a more skillful and competent professional ready to take on the world and bring glory to Indonesia. Regardless of whether this will be your first MUN, or you have already experienced a few of them, you are highly encouraged to join.

If you believe you should be one of the chosen delegates, please submit your latest curriculum vitae/resume, along with the following:

One

As the entire program will be conducted in English, proficiency in the English language is mandatory. Submit a minimum TOEFL-ITP score result of 550 (or its equivalent) or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (a predictive score, or an equivalent English examination conducted by your university or a reputable language education institution will be acceptable);

Two

An essay written in English of 1 to 1.5 A4 pages, typed single-spaced with Arial font, size 12pt, addressing the following questions:

  • What do you know about Model United Nations?
  • What motivates you to take part in WorldMUN 2019?
  • What one global issue do you find most pressing today, and why?
  • Why should Djarum Foundation choose you as a delegate?
  • What and how will you contribute to the Djarum Foundation delegation if chosen?

Three

Post two, 1-minute videos (each) on your personal Instagram account (not on Instastories), and in the caption write your name, university, and why you are eager to join the conference, making sure you tag @djarumbeasiswaplus and include the hashtags #IminforIE #BeswanDjarum. The content of the video should consist of your oral response to the following situation in English: Take a look at the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR, 1948) and imagine you are Indonesia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, speaking at the United Nations. Please select 2 human rights out of the 30 articles, and deliver a speech on behalf of Indonesia, encouraging all members of the United Nations to respect the 2 rights you have chosen.

Submission of your curriculum vitae, TOEFL-ITP/IELTS result and essay can be done through the registration portal by clicking the registration button under this announcement.

The selection process will begin on the 1st of August 2019 and applications will be closed by the 30th of September 2019. Selected delegates will be announced on the 19th of October 2019. Should you have any questions and/or comments, do not hesitate to send an e-mail to worldmun2020@djarumbeasiswaplus.org.
